Father Christmas to visit festive event at Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve

There will be lots of festive fun at Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve this weekend with the arrival of Father Christmas – and he is not the only famous face making an appearance!

Visitors to the medieval grotto – which will enjoy its opening festive weekend for families this weekend and Robin Hood in action as the famous outlaw tames the Sheriff who is looking to make mischief!

Nottinghamshire County Council Chairman Coun Carol Pepper will be a special guest for the event, which takies place on Sunday at around 11am.

Nottinghamshire County Council’s assistant site manager Paul Cook, said: “We attracted around 1,000 people to a similar event last year and it is a wonderful weekend which officially signals the start of the festive season for us.

“Over the next few weekends, visitors will find Santa in his medieval grotto greeting well-wishers and meeting children to hear their Christmas wishes.

“Having an appearance from Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham will add extra excitement again this year.”
