RESIDENTS across Mansfield and Ashfield will be able to find out more about epilepsy at an event being held by Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Epilepsy is one of the most common conditions affecting the brain and results in recurrent seizures which are caused by excess electrical activity in the brain.
Causes, symptoms, diagnosis and management will be the main topics of the event presented by Consultant Neurologist Dr Antal Szabo and specialist nurse for epilepsy Jill Phillips.
Dr Szabo said: “Epilepsy is a common brain disorder and can cause repeated seizures, also known as fits. Epilepsy affects people at any age.
“Epilepsy is a long-term condition and, and successful management requires good cooperation between the patient and health care professionals. I would encourage anyone with an interest in epilepsy to come along to the event and we will answer any questions you may have.”
