Mansfield and Ashfield: Water company keen to minimise sewer disruption

Work just off Hamilton Road and Hamilton Way will start on Monday and is expected to last around five weeks.

It will cause a temporary closure of the road in one direction, which will be monitored by traffic lights, for ‘no more than five working days’.

A footpath adjacent to the road will also be closed off for around seven working days.

When finished, the sewer will serve new commercial facilities on what was previously farm land.

“After careful consideration of how to do this work without impacting on the local community too much, we’ve decided that the most suitable route to connect the new development to the existing sewer network is to cross land immediately next to Hamilton Way,” said Severn Trent Water spokesman, John Amos.

“The proposed sewer will be laid in a trench across the grass, footpath and road, all of which will be put back to their current condition following the work.

“We know that work like this can be disruptive, and due to the location of the works, some disturbance is inevitable. However, we’ll do whatever we can to keep the impact to the minimum possible.”
