Iconic Sutton Lawn tree leaves lasting legacy

Sutton Lawn is to have a new sculpture created from the remains of an iconic tree that had to be removed in the summer.

The beech tree which once stood outside the Rumbles Café had to be cut down in May this year after the Council commissioned a professional tree survey which showed that the tree was dead.

The trunk was cut to around twelve feet in height, and the children at Forest Glade Primary School have been busy coming up with potential designs for a carved sculpture.

The Friends of Sutton Lawn chose their favourite designs and the artist will be carving the sculpture on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th September with the children popping along to .see their designs become a reality.
