English Heritage is staging five weeks of hands-on history events at Bolsover Castle throughout the school summer holidays.

Each week a different Time Travellers Go event will bring history to life.

Children can join in the action and discover at first hand what life was like in different periods of Bolsover Castle’s history.

English Heritage is staging Time Travellers Go . . Cavaliers & Roundheads until Friday (27th July). Children can join Oliver Cromwell’s army and discover what it took to be a soldier of the English Civil War.

Then test their agility in the children’s battle and learn to use a pike in the soldiers drill.

Next week (Monday 30th July – Friday 3rd August) is Time Travellers Go . . Heroes & Villains.

Families visiting Bolsover Castle can try their hand at becoming fearsome highwaymen, take part in a thrilling musket drill, listen to stories about the life of heroes and villains and plan their own ambush.

Lucy Hutchings, English Heritage events manager said” “Time Travellers Go . . events at Bolsover Castle take place from Monday to Friday every week during the school summer holidays, with a different theme each week.

The events are run by colourful historic characters who bring history to life for children making it a memorable day out.”
