Students and staff at The Brunts Academy were celebrating today after securing a 98 per cent A-level pass rate.
Carl Atkin, head of school, said: “We are delighted with how hard our staff and students have worked to provide opportunities for the outcomes achieved so that students have been able to move onto their next stage of education.
“We are very proud of their achievements and wish them every success in the future as they embark upon the next stage of their lives.”
Students have been successful in securing places at universities across the country, including Bristol, Birmingham, Sheffield, York and Nottingham.
Student Eleanor Shepherd, who achieved an A, B and B in maths, chemistry and biology and is going on to study medicine at Bristol University said: “All of the hard work has eventually paid off and I’m really excited to pursue my ambition and become a doctor”.
Toby Herring who got an A, b and B in media studies, ICT and English language and literature and who moving on to study English Language and Linguistics at York St John.
University said: “I can’t quite believe my results have turned out so positively but am over the moon and looking forward to university life and Freshers week!”
Charlotte Tatham who achieved an A, C and a merit in media studies, English literature and production arts and who is going on to study film production at the University of West London, said: “I can’t stop smiling, it’s overwhelming and exciting at the same time”.
Neil Davies, head of sixth-form added: “It’s really pleasing to see so many students achieving such positive results which in turn have allowed them to progress to their chosen destinations in higher education, employment or training.”
