Staff and students from years 12 and 13 at Sutton Community Academy have enjoyed a weekend residential trip to Liverpool.
This visit was organised by five A2 travel and tourism students as part of their A2 coursework.
The students, Laura, James, Harry, Bradley and Daniel spent many weeks researching a range of possible destinations before choosing Liverpool and inviting other AS and A2 students to join them.
They investigated transport, accommodation, attractions and costs.
They then made the appropriate bookings, collected in payments and produced a detailed itinerary.
The students and their teachers used return coach travel from school to Liverpool city centre and stayed in a centrally-located hostel.
During the weekend, the group visited numerous attractions, they experienced a Magical Mystery Tour and saw famous sites associated with the Beatles.
They also spent time exploring the sights of The Cavern, the Beatles Story museum and the One shopping centre.
Overall, reports the school, it was a “highly successful and well organised trip”.
Huge congratulations to Daniel, James, Laura, Bradley, and Harry on arranging the trip and putting it into action. This teamwork comprised part of the exam specification for the A2 working in travel and tourism unit of work.
The three students who organised the visit to London were assessed by their staff on their abilities to work as a team, prepare, organise and lead the event.
