Wynndale Primary School has received a brand new tumble composter, donated by the Nottinghamshire County Council’s Schools Waste Action Club.

The composter is self-contained, which ensures the waste rots down quickly and can be easily turned into compost.

Pupils now have an increased awareness of their waste collection, with bins in each classroom.

Kathy Swanwick, Wynndale Primary School’s Eco Club leader said: “We are very grateful to the Schools Waste Action Club for the tumble composter.

“Composting in school can be problematic so to have a self-contained composter that is fun for the children to use is of great benefit. We will be able to improve the soil in our raised beds by using the waste from school and grow great vegetables!”
