Year 5 pupils at Kingsway Primary School presented a Wartime Sing-a-long to family, friends, the Royal British Legion and the Chair of Ashfield District Council, Elizabeth Mays.

The children, who have been practising songs from the 1920’s, talked to members of RBL, listening to their many stories.

After refreshments, the children marched to the war memorial on Kingsway, reciting the poem, Flanders Field. A one minute silence was observed and Joshua Sheldon laid a wreath in remembrance of the fallen.

Teacher Carole Turner said: “We would like to thank the RBL for their support, the children for their amazing performance, and the staff of Kingsway School who helped put the whole performance together.”
