Mapplewells Primary and Nursery School took part in an inter-school Cross Country Competition, entering both the boys and girls competitions from Years 3/4 and Years 5/6.
The Year 3/4 girls and the Year 5/6 boys both came away with gold in the team competition.
In the boys’ race, the top 12 qualified to represent Ashfield at the district finals, which included Mapplewells pupils Elliott Hardy and Michael Senior, who finished third and ninth.
The Year 3/4 boys also did well, finishing second in the team event, with Alex Baugh coming away with individual gold after winning in a close sprint finish.
Meanwhile on the football pitch, the school team comprised of Year 5 and 6 pupils has won the Ashfield District Cup, winning the final 1-0 in a game played in terrible conditions following Hurricane Gonzalo.
They are now through to the County final representing Ashfield on the 29th November.
