Langwith school splashes out on swimming pool

YOUNGSTERS at Langwith’s Stubbin Wood School will soon be able to make a splash in a new £217,000 indoor pool.

Work has started on the two-foot deep splash pool, complete with new changing rooms, which is being created at the school’s nursery unit - the only place in Derbyshire where pupils with special educational needs play and learn alongside their peers from across the community.

Teachers say the current pool is too shallow and too small to be used by significant numbers of pupils, whereas the new facility will be a benefit to the whole community.

Much of the money to pay for it has been raised by parents and the shortfall has been met by the school’s own funds.
