Budding entrepreneurs at a Kirkby primary school have been given a funding boost for their flourishing business thanks to a High Street bank.

Kingsway Primary School has been given a £2,000 award from the Lloyds Bank Community Fund to support its recently-opened stationery shop.

The shop is managed by year 6 children who sell various stationery items to other pupils and their parents.

They have to order, cost and sell products - with help from staff - and ensure that a profit is made.

The children have also been learning about financial accounting.

The shop was officially opened by Paul Silcock, manager of Lloyds Bank, and Wendy Brown, from customer services.

A school spokesman said they were ‘extremely thankful’ for the money.
