A Mansfield man who attacked his partner in a drunken rage after chasing him in the street has been given a 12-month community order.

Prosecutor Eileen Stewart told a Mansfield judge how Scott Gibson (22), of Mount Pleasant, repeatedly punched his partner in the head and neck after drinking 7-8 pints of bitter.

“It had an effect on his memory but he is prepared to accept his partner’s account,” she said.

District Judge Diane baker said: “I give you full credit for your guilty plea. Someone who accepts what they cannot remember deserves exceptional credit.”

Gibson was also given an alcohol treatment programme with anger management.

He had to pay costs of £85 and a £60 victim surcharge.
