A Mansfield judge was told how a Kirkby man slapped his ex-partner in front of their children after an argument.
Eileen Stewart, prosecuting, said Jason Reeves (27), of Pinxton Road, had drunk four pints of lager before the incident.
“He slapped her across the face and became really mad and threatened to do worse - their children were upset by that time,” she said.
Sarah Neale, defending, said “He says there was an argument. He perceived that she was going to slap him because her arm was outstretched but he accepts what he did was beyond self-defence.”
District Judge Diane Baker adjourned the case until 21st August and ordered Reeves not to contact his ex-partner directly or indirectly.
