Drunk and disorderly man given town ban

MAGISTRATES followed police advice and handed a drink banning order to a man who admitted being drunk and disorderly in Mansfield town centre.

Stewart Mather (26) of Ravensdale Road, Mansfield, was found to be squaring up to another man outside on Leeming Street on the evening of 1st March.

Mansfield magistrates were told how Mather had been acting aggressive when police turned up and was clearly drunk, having downed more than eight pints of beer.

Defending, Michael Little, said that his defendant had started a fight with the other man because he had been insulting Mather’s brother.

The magistrates handed him a six-month ban from pubs in the town centre and ordered the unemployed man to pay a total of £205 in fines and costs.
