Driver banned after '˜only' three or four beers

A motorist who says he 'only had three of four beers' has been banned from the road after he was found to be nearly twice the drink-drive limit.

Alin Bejan, 25, of Slant Lane, Mansfield Woodhouse, had been driving a silver BMW when police, acting on information, pulled him over shortly before 1am on September 8.

He was breathalysed and found to have 60 mcgs of alcohol in 100 mls of breath. The legal limit is 35 mcgs.

Bejan defended himself at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court and admitted the charge of driving while over the limit, but said: “I only had three or four beers, I was driving my brother and my wife home.

“It’s not going to happen again, it is the first time I have been stopped by police.”

He was banned from the road for 17 months, fined £300 and made to pay £115 in costs.
