Donate your unwanted items to Chad’s MRI Scanner Appeal
HOSPITAL staff are appealing for kind-hearted locals and businesses to donate any unwanted items to raffle or sell off for Chad’s MRI Scanner Appeal.
The appeal has been issued in the run up to the festive period, which may see many people around the district throwing away unwanted clothing, books and other items after unwrapping their Christmas presents.
Volunteers at King’s Mill Hospital say they will be able to put the items to good use during their monthly fundraising raffles.
Tracy Brassington, customer services manager at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Sales like this are successful and we will be able to raise a lot of money.
“This campaign is not just about people donating money. The public can help us in a number of ways and if people cannot spare money, they may be able to donate unwanted items for us to sell.
“The success of this campaign is all about the community and the support they can give us. People out there may want to do fundraising events of their own, which would be fantastic. Every pound counts and we are grateful for any support that we receive from the public.”
More than £900 was raised for the life-changing campaign this week after Annesley logistics firm Promotional Logistics Ltd, who are based at Sherwood Park, donated a variety of unwanted toys for a special raffle
The company are a third party logistics firm and distribute items for a number of clients around the country and had the items spare after they were no longer required to distribute.
Marvin Walden, facilities, health and safety manager, said: “They were items that our clients no longer wanted us to distribute and asked us to get rid of. Rather than just throwing them away, we thought they would be great for King’s Mill Hospital.
“We regularly donate to charity and we think the MRI appeal is a great cause. We are excited to be doing something to help the hospital.”
So far more than £146,000 has been raised since Chad teamed up with King’s Mill Hospital just under five months ago.
Anyone with any items to donate for future raffles can do so by visiting the PALS office in the main reception at King’s Mill Hospital, or by calling 01623 672222.
