Police are investigating following a robbery in Stanton Hill on Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to a newsagent’s shop on High Street at about 3pm following a report of a robbery.

A man entered the shop and threatened a member of staff before making off with some money from the till.

Police are appealing for anyone who might have seen the robbery or the man around the time of the incident.

He was white, about 5ft 10in tall and thought to be in his 20s. He was wearing a black hooded top, light blue jeans and had a black scarf over his mouth and nose.

Acting Police Sergeant David Sadler said: “Although the victim was not injured she has been left very shaken by this incident.

“The last thing anyone should expect in their job, serving members of the local community, is the fear of violence or to be involved in a frightening robbery.

“Were you in the area at the time of the robbery? Did you see anyone matching the description or behaving unusually? If you have any information please get in touch.”

If you have any information contact PS Sadler on 101 extension 8063664 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
