A committee member of the Mansfield Voluntary Group of Diabetes UK has been honoured by the Midland Region of the national organisation.
Former Chad journalist, Peter Green of Fairfield Drive, had a surprise at the Midlands Region Volunteer Conference receiving the regional Diabetes Voices award, one of five presented as part of the Inspire Awards 2012. The award was presented by Mr Frank Moxon, a national Trustee
The award recognises Peter’s involvement as a Diabetes Voice at local, regional and national level in campaigning and influencing improvements to diabetes services and care. He has also worked to promote the awareness of diabetes and raise the profile of the local group and national organisation.
Peter was one of the conference speakers and it was announced that he is the Region’s nomination for the national Inspire Awards later this year.
For some years, he has been a lay patient adviser with the local Primary Care Trust and also with the Mansfield and Ashfield Clinical Commissioning Group.
Peter said: “It has been an honour to work with my group colleagues and the professionals in diabetes care. The honour is also for them in recognising their work and dedication”.
