A pregnant mum-of-three who had her house ransacked by burglars says she was forced to steal from a supermarket.
Kimberley Murrell ( 26) of South Avenue, Rainworth, was caught on CCTV stealing £24 worth of goods from the village’s Co-Op shop, including lamb chops, fruit juice and candles.
Defending at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court, Mary Dixon, said her client had been burgled the week before and money, her children’s DVD player, and her car were taken. Murrell said she had no money to feed her children, aged six, four and two.
She was given a six-month conditional discharge and told to pay £24.80 compensation to the supermarket for the items she took. She has two previous convictions, including one for shoplifting.
