A derelict building fire in Mansfield is thought to have been started by children.

Crews were called to the two-storey building on Chesterfield Road North at 4.14pm on Sunday and found fires had been lit on the ground floor and in the roof space.

Crews from Mansfield and Ashfield and an aerial ladder platform spent more than three hours at the site which was left structurally unsafe.

Firefighter Matt Reavill took to Twitter and said: “It is believed that children may have been playing in the building and started the fire. Derelict buildings are very hazardous this one is structurally unsafe.”
