Derbyshire courses for skills, leisure and fun

THERE’S something for everyone in Derbyshire County Council’s new season of great value adult community education courses.

Brochures for the autumn term – which begins on 17th September – are now available and there are hundreds of courses to choose from.

From cookery to clothes making, tai chi to guitar, jewellery making to languages, there is a something to suit everyone.

There are three regional editions of the brochure – Eastern, Western Derbyshire and Southern.

And all three include a pull out giving details of courses at the Derbyshire Eco Centre.

The eco-friendly building is the county hub for courses and activities focusing on education for sustainable development and includes courses on healthy living, construction, computing, foreign languages, and jewellery.

Councillor Mike Longden, Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Education, said: “It’s never too late to learn and our adult education courses give everyone the chance to discover a new skill.

“It is also a great opportunity to get a qualification or just meet new people and have fun.

“There are hundreds of courses to choose from and our staff offer all the support and advice you need.”

You can also gain professional qualifications in subjects including childcare, food safety, and computing.

Anyone signing up and paying for a course before Friday 21st September will receive a 10 per cent discount on course fees.

Brochures can be accessed at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/adulteducation, Call Derbyshire on 08456 058 058, any county library, or your local adult community education centre.
