Cutting energy bill at centres

COMMUNITY centres in Ollerton, Edwinstowe, Clipstone and Blidworth are among those taking part in a new initiative which has seen them reduce energy bills by up to a quarter.

Thirty-five centres under the management of Newark and Sherwood Homes are using voltage optimisation to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.

Electricity companies are entitled by law to supply power between 207 and 253 volts - but appliances work most efficiently at between 210 and 220 volts.

Above this is a waste of electricity, and voltage optimisation is now being used by many firms.
