CRUNCH time is approaching once again as the Clumber Apple Festival gets underway this weekend
IT’S crunch time again as the Clumber Apple Festival gets under way this weekend.
The annual event is to celebrate the varieties of local apples with a number of themed events and activities.
It will take place on both Saturday and Sunday in the Walled Kitchen Garden in Clumber.
Clumber’s head chef, Clive Goudercourt, will be giving cookery demonstrations of tasty apple-based recipes.
Skill and agility will be tested in the apple themed games, with the debut of the Apple Bowl-a-rama, and then there is the return of the longest peel competition.
Clumber’s gardeners will give demonstrations of fruit tree training and a local botanic artist has painted some of the local apple varieties which will be on display in the museum rooms.
There will be the opportunity to taste some of the varieties of apples grown in the orchard, as well the opportunity to learn about apple identification.
Other Walled Kitchen Garden produce will also be available to try and buy. Activities are free, but normal entry to the garden applies.
