Crowds flock to see colourful flower show at Blisthorpe church

Blisthorpe Methodist Church put on a bright display for visitors from all over with its annual flower show.

The church, on Valley Road, was decorated by community groups in the village and put on cake and tea to enjoy the hot sunshine.

The groups that took part included Crompton View Primary School, Sure Start Children’s centre, the Scouts, St John’s Ambulance, Blisthorpe Parish Council Blisthorpe Methodist Church, the Over 50’s club. the Hospice Support Group, the British Legion, the Heritage Society, the Ladies Running Group, the Green Centre, Burton Court, the Gradening Club and St Margaret’s Club.

A chucrch spokesperson said: “We had visitors from various parts of the county, some from Derbyshire & one from San Francisco either to see the flowers or the lovely historic church.

People appreciated the refreshments outside with delicious homemade cakes, relaxing in the beautiful summer sun.”

The weekend was completed by a Songs of Praise on Sunday evening with Hymns chosen by some of the organisations.

Readers from the Bible at the ceremony included Jenny, Joan Wood, Fred and Jackie Brown and John Olley.

Crompton View School choir sang two songs accompanied by a teacher on guitar.
