part.

The Crossfit 17 ‘Throwdown’ saw fitness fanatics descend on the track to take part in a series of challenges, including weight lifting, rowing and sprinting.

Crossfit 17, which is based on Crown Farm Industrial Estate, is part of a popular new fitness craze - Crossfit- a strength and conditioning programme aimed at increasing fitness.

And its growing popularity was emphasised when around 500 people, including spectators, made their way to the track at Berry Hill recently for the day-long event , travelling from as far away as Lincoln, Doncaster and Sheffield.

Julia Crone, who runs Crossfit 17, said: “The event was a complete success with everyone having an absolutely fantastic day.

“The sun was shining for us and coupled with the venue, made for a fantastic community event.

“Many of the athletes and spectators have requested it to be a yearly event saying it was an amazing atmosphere.”

Crossfit, which originated and has been patented in America, has proved so popular at the Forest Town gym that they are looking to move to new, bigger premises to keep up with the growing demand of people wanting to sign up.
