An addict who tried to settle a debt with her dealer by helping to steal bottles of tequila will be sentenced later this month.

Lynda Simone Lucy Smith, 35, of Church Street East, Pinxton attempted to move the items closer to the door of Co-op in Selston, in order for someone else to take them, Mansfield Magistrates’ Court was told.

Smith admitted two charges of theft.

Defending, James Whyley, said that Smith had a £60-a-week heroin habit, and is also using crack.

He added: “She had run up a significant debt with a drug dealer, and made clear requests to either pay him back or help him.”

She will return to court on September 24.
