video: Woman arrested over death on Hucknall street

A woman has been arrested following an attack at a Hucknall address which led to the death of a 39-year-old man.

The 28-year-old female was arrested late on Wednesday night following the incident in Spruce Grove and remained in police custody at the time the Dispatch went to press.

Paramedics were called to the flat at around 10pm and neighbours said officers were at the scene through the night into Thursday, where the road remained closed throughout Wednesday.

The woman was initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. She remains in police custody but no further details of charges were available.

Flowers have been left at the scene and residents were being asked to sign in and out.

The man, who has not been named, was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment for life-threatening injuries, but later died. It is understood that both the woman and the victim were in a relationship.

It is also believed that the man had been stabbed. One 37-year-old neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “I’m really shocked because we don’t have problems around here. What has happened is incredibly sad. I didn’t know him well but he was a really nice guy. The police came and taped off the road and the ambulances arrived at around 10pm on Wednesday. This sort of thing doesn’t happen on this street – the worst you get is noise from the pub when they’re emptying the bins.”
