Video: Mansfield car smash driver had been pursued by police.

Police had been pursuing a car involved in a smash in Mansfield yesterday, it has been revealed.

Two people were taken to hospital and one man arrested after the crash on Jubilee Way, which left one vehicle overturned.

A couple had to be cut from their Kia car and were taken to Queens Medical Centre after the crash at 2.26pm, at the junction with Tesco.

Their injuries were described as not life threatening.

police are continuing with their investigations and the man arrested at the scene has been released on police bail.

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm the car was pursued after the driver was asked to stop on Nottingham Road. There was a short pursuit and the police vehicle was not damaged.”

The crash left a black Citroen Saxo car overturned.

Fire crews from Mansfield and Edwinstowe attended the incident.

Jubilee Way South Mansfield, southbound between A6117 Oak Tree Lane and Sawley Drive was closed for two hours.
