Trial of Mansfield shopkeeper collapses after jury dismissed

The trial of a Mansfield shopkeeper has collapsed after the jury were dismissed yesterday (25th February).

Vijay Chadda appeared at Nottingham Crown Court this week in relation to three charges of sexual assault.

But Nottingham Crown Court today confirmed the jury were dismissed and a retrial ordered for 27th May.

Chadda (46), of Rufford Road, Edwinstowe, pleaded not guilty to the charges of sexually touching a woman between October 2012 and February 2013.

Mr Chadda currently runs the Collections Designerwear Outlet on Regent Street.

The shop manager, Dale Allen, of Rufford Avenue, Rainworth, also appeared in court charged with perverting the course of justice.

Allen (27) also pleaded not guilty.
