Thieves steal Bilsthorpe funeral flowers

Heartless thieves have stolen funeral flowers from the garden of a Bilsthorpe woman while she was attending the wake of her former husband.

Nottinghamshire Police were called out to Crompton Road on 24th June after 38-year-old Emma Kiernan reported the theft.

While she had been attending her former husband Stuart’s wake, bunches of flowers and arrangements bought in his memory were stolen.

Only an arrangement spelling his name was left.

She said: “It was obvious that these were flowers from the funeral and dedicated to Stuart so it is devastating that that they were taken.”

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time – particularly between 1.30pm and 4.30pm - to get in touch if they saw anything suspicious.

PC Alex Henstock said: “The victim was already understandably distressed attending her daughter’s father’s funeral.

“To return home to find the flowers which had been bought in his memory had been stolen added to that distress.

“Did you see anything? Do you know anything about the theft? Any information can help our enquiries.”

Call Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
