Police are calling trying to trace a ‘kind-hearted’ thief who posted some of the contents of a stolen wallet back to the owners from a post box in New Ollerton.

A couple had been shopping in Tesco in Worksop last Friday morning, 27th February, when the opportunist thief took off with the Louis Vuitton wallet.

It had been left on the self-serve checkout, and contained a ‘large amount’ of Hong Kong dollars as well as English notes.

However, the following day the items was posted back to them from the post box approximately 14 miles away.

The victims, Mr and Mrs Lin, are now appealing for the return of the cash and the wallet.

“There was no note inside the envelope to say who had sent it back to him. So we believe someone with half a conscience after taking the money felt bad and returned the cards,” Mrs Lin said.

“We know the envelope was posted from the Post Office in New Ollerton. There is a serial number on the stamp, as someone had to have it weighed for the postage.”

“We are appealing for any help in connection for the return of the wallet, plus someone may remember someone locally trying to exchange some Hong Kong dollars.”
