Thief grabbed necklace from woman in Mansfield car park

A THIEF who snatched a necklace from a 55-year-old woman in Mansfield is being hunted by police.

He approached the victim as she returned to her car outside Sainsbury’s supermarket, on Nottingham Road, at about 4.35pm yesterday (28th June).

The man grabbed the piece of jewellery and pulled in from the woman’s neck before running off in the direction of Talbot Street.

The suspect is white, in his mid 30s, about 6ft tall, with thick dark hair and was holding a carrier bag.

Det Con David Sadler, from Mansfield South CID, said: “This was a nasty robbery which has left the woman incredibly shaken.

“At this stage the attack is being treated as an isolated incident and I would appeal to anyone with information to contact police immediately.

“Were you in the car park when it happened? Did you see a man matching the description running away from the scene? I would urge anyone who did to come forward.”

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call Det Con Sadler on 101, extension 805 3131, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
