Sutton woman victim of attempted robbery at knifepoint

Police are appealing for witnesses who could help trace two men who attempted to rob a woman at knifepoint in Sutton.

The incident occurred in Lucknow Drive at around 4.20pm on Thursday 2nd February.

The woman was walking home alone at the time when she was approached by the men, one of whom demanded money and produced a knife.

The victim walked away from the men, and although she was followed for a short distance by the offender with the knife he gave up the pursuit. The woman was not injured and nothing was stolen from her.

The man with the knife is described as white, approximately 5ft 10ins, of medium build and aged in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing a light coloured hat, a white jacket and dark coloured jeans.

The other man is also described as white, approximately 6ft tall, of medium build, and of a similar age to the other offender. His face was partially covered by a light-coloured scarf and he was wearing dark coloured clothing.

Police are keen to speak to two elderly men who may also have been approached by the same offenders in Samuel Unwins Court just a few minutes after the first incident.

Anyone who witnessed either incident, recognises the description of the offenders or has any other information which could assist detectives should telephone Ashfield North CID on 101, ext 806 3632.

Alternatively, they can telephone Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
