A SUTTON car thief has been given a four month community order after breaking into eleven cars in one night in Sutton last week.
Luke Walters (20), of Sylvan Crescent, admitted stealing a car stereo and an Ipod Touch from a car on Wednesday 29th June.
Walters, who appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Wednesday, also asked the court to take into consideration 10 other incidents that occurred in the area around the same time.
Walters admitted he broke into five other vehicles in Sutton and stole items including car stereos, satellite navigation systems and sunglasses.
He also admitted attempting to steal from five more vehicles before he was arrested by officers.
Insp Andy Clarke, Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for the area, said: “Walters caused a lot of inconvenience and upset to the victims involved, but thanks to their assistance, his prompt arrest, and a robust police investigation, he has been dealt with by the courts.
“This sends a clear message that Nottinghamshire Police will deal forcefully with this type of crime and that this sort of behaviour will simply not be tolerated.
“Anyone with information on this type of crime, or indeed any other, should tell us what they know so that we can do something about it.”
