A 20 year-old Sutton man is among three men facing trial accused of helping a 17-year-old Cardiff boy leave the UK to join fighters in Syria.

Adeel Ulhaq of Westbourne Road along with Kristen Brekke, 19, of Grangetown, Cardiff, Forhad Rahman, 20, of Cirencester, have pleaded not guilty to terrorism charges.

They appeared for the hearing at the Old Bailey on Friday via videolink.

The three men are all charged with preparation of terrorist acts with the intention of assisting an individual - who cannot be named for legal reasons - to commit acts of terrorism.

Ulhaq is charged with entering into or becoming concerned in a terrorist funding arrangement.

Rahman is also charged with two counts of possessing a document likely to be useful for terrorism.

Adeel Ulhaq, 20, was arrested during a search of his home on Westbourne Road on 5 June 2014.

It followed a joint investigation by Notts Police and the North East Counter Terrorism Unit.

They will next appear for trial at the Old Bailey on 25th June.
