A MOBILE phone landed a man in court where he was given 80 hours’ community service.
Stewart Lee Foster, of Gladstone Street, Mansfield, admitted handling stolen goods after buying the £300 HTC phone from a friend for just £30 in February.
It was only later when he attempted to sell the phone that it alerted police.
Mansfield Magistrates were told that the 27-year-old had not known it was stolen and that he had bought it for his partner, but her sim card did not fit the phone.
He was handed a community order and told to pay compensation to the victim of the theft.
