Southwell man accused of Nottingham murder

A 21-year-old Southwell man has been charged with the murder of a man in Nottingham city centre in the early hours of Friday.

Liam Rockley, of Lower Kirklington Road, will appear before Nottingham magistrates’ court on Monday accused of killing 36-year-old Robert Holland.

Mr Holland, who was from Sidcup in Kent, was found collapsed in Lower Parliament Street at around 4am on Friday. He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre, but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

A post-mortem examination concluded that he died from head injuries sustained during an assault.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who was in Lower Parliament Street and may have seen or heard anything suspicious or witnessed a disturbance in the area shortly before 4am on Friday.

They should telephone the incident room directly on 0115 8445017 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
