‘The police have a lot more to do in Mansfield than deal with silly young men who should know better’.
That was the view of Mansfield magistrates after teenager Troy Jack Fraser failed to leave the town centre after a night out. The 19-year-old, of Vere Avenue, Sutton, was warned to leave the area by police who spotted him drunk on Clumber Street at 2.45am on 1st August.
After speaking to him several times, he was issued with a section 27 warning - which gives the police the power to force a person to leave an area and not return for up to 48 hours, or face arrest.
In mitigation, he said he was returning to meet his girlfriend who had been left on her own. He received a conditional discharge and told to pay £100 in costs.
