Police have re-opened a street in Mansfield Woodhouse which had been cordoned off after reports that an explosive was found.
Albert Street was taped off by police after concerns over what they described as a suspicious package.
Experts from JSEOD (Joint Service Ordnance Explosive Disposal) assessed the package and said that it was harmless, a police spokesman said later on Monday evening.
Earlier resident Tammy Williamson said: “We went to the shop. They said it was some sort of explosive.”
Another resident who asked not to be named, added: “The police just taped it up. They cordoned it off and said you’re not going through. Some people have just been told to stay indoors.”
Sgt Richard Howell said: “We have found something that looks suspicious and we are waiting for bomb disposal to come and tell us whether it is something untoward or not.”
