Police in South Normanton and Pinxton are appealing for information after a number of cars have had their paintwork damaged.
Since Wednesday, 28th August officers have received eight reports where a corrosive fluid has been poured or sprayed onto vehicles.
The most recent incident happened overnight between Friday, 9th October and Saturday, 10th October. A car transporter and two cars on the lorry were targeted at Beristow Lane Industrial Estate in South Normanton.
Similar incidents have happened on Bookhill Lane, Town Street and Alfreton Road at Pinxton and South Street, Carter Lane East and Carter Lane West at South Normanton.
The South Normanton and Pinxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team have stepped up patrols in the area and are working with car owners affected by the incidents and the local council to target the issue.
PC Chris Wilkinson of the South Normanton and Pinxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are working hard to find those responsible for the damage, which has been costly for people to repair.
“I would also encourage residents, or anyone passing through the area, to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to police, especially during the night or in the early morning.”
Anyone with information should contact Derbyshire police on 101, the non emergency number, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
