PAEDOPHILE Shaun Tudor has today (Tuesday) been jailed indefinitely for the attempted rape of a 10-year-old boy in Rainworth.

Tudor (43), of no fixed address, who had admitted the sexual assault at an earlier hearing, was told by a judge at Nottingham Crown Court he would almost certainly spend the rest of his life behind bars.

The sex offender committed the attack on the boy just minutes after he had been released from St Andrew’s Healthcare in Rainworth on the afternoon of 20th July.

Sentencing Tudor to an indeterminate sentence with a minimum of four years and 10 months behind bars, Judge John Burgess said: “He is not suitable for treatment because everything has been tried and has not worked.”

After the sentencing, Det Insp Caroline Racher said: “Tudor committed an appalling offence against a young child and the sentence he has been given today reflects the gravity of his crime.

“His offence has had a terrible impact, on a young boy, his family, and on the wider community of Rainworth and Mansfield.

“The circumstances surrounding Tudor’s crime understandably caused his victim, the victim’s family, and the local community, to share a sense of outrage and deep concern.

“We share those concerns, and have been working on a daily basis with the management at St Andrews to ensure that there can be no such repetition of such a terrible incident.”
