Nottinghamhshire Police plan festive drink driving campaign

As Nottinghamshire prepares for another cracking Christmas season, police are reminding motorists again of the dangers of drinking and driving.

As part of its Christmas crackdown on drink–driving, Nottinghamshire asking people to report drivers they know have climbed behind the wheel after having an alcoholic drink over the festive period.

The independent charity Crimestoppers is also offering cash rewards to anyone who gives information leading to the conviction of a drink-driver during the campaign.

The action is part of a national effort aimed at highlighting the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol, especially over the Christmas and New Year period, when many people attend social events with family, friends or work colleagues.

Officers will be carrying out increased road patrols and breath tests until January 1.
