A motorist who ignored shouts from an officer and got into his car and drove off, clipping a police van as he went, was fined £250.

Simon Peter Willett (30) of Olive Grove, Forest Town, got into his vehicle in the early hours of 17th November in Wilkinson’s car park on Clumber Street.

Police had been tipped off about a possible drink driver, and when they arrived, an officer got out to challenge Willett, but he quickly drove off, narrowly missing the officer but catching the police van.

He turned himself into the police a few days later.

Admitting having no licence, insurance, and driving without due care and attention, he was also given eight penalty points, and told to
pay £85 costs and a £25 surcharge.
