A 56-year-old man has been jailed for a year for stabbing a man who had been behaving badly at his home.
Trevor Perry, of Sherwood Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, admitted wounding Craig Malby who had been drinking and taking drugs, Nottingham Crown Court was told.
The victim had assaulted Perry more than once.
“He had been behaving badly and there was some provocation,” said the judge Recorder Andrew Lockhart.
Perry went to the kitchen to get a knife to make sandwiches.
“But foolishly he came back into the room with it,” said the judge.
Malby came towards him and Perry pushed the knife towards him to scare him.
The victim was stabbed in the stomach. He cried out and Perry apologised.
It was a dangerous act and could have been fatal if the knife had gone into another part of the body, said the judge.
Perry had a previous conviction for assault as well as a drink problem and was developing a pattern that needed to stop.
