Mansfield town centre ban for man who intimidated shoppers

A man has been banned from Mansfield town centre for two years after intimidating shoppers and residents with his threatening behaviour.

Martin Wood (48), of no fixed abode, was handed the anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) by Mansfield Magistrates.

The order bans Wood from going into: Mansfield town centre, Titchfield Park, Lord Street, entering or waiting outside Park View News, Nottingham Road.

Wood was also handed a 12-month community order for criminal damage and ordered to pay £300 in compensation after admitting vandalising market stalls in the town.

Police say that the ASBO was granted following a string of incidents that date back six months.

Posters have been distributed around Mansfield town centre to inform people of the restrictions Wood must adhere to.

Anyone who witnesses Wood breaching the terms of his ASBO is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 9999.
