Craig Wallstone of Richmond Street, Mansfield appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on Wednesday after pleading guilty to assaulting Michael Regulski at the Illusions nightclub.

Mr Regulski had been at the nightclub with Wallstone’s former girlfriend at the time of the attack in the early hours of March 9.

Magistrates heard Wallstone, 37 had grabbed Michael Regulski, pushed him to the floor and punched him repeatedly in the face and head.

Mr Regulski fell to his knees and was pushed through the bar door during the assault and tried to cover his face to protect himself.

Bar staff had intervened to break Wallstone’s grip before separating the pair.

Wallstone had claimed the assault had followed an earlier incident earlier in the evening when the complainant had spat at him, but this was denied by the complainant.

Wallstone’s probation officer said he was very remorseful following the incident.

He had no previous convictions.

The defendant had in the past been a door supervisor and had dealt with similar incidents himself, so he should have known better.

He said he had a ‘fair amount’ to drink on the day but that had never got him into trouble before.

Magistrates ordered Wallstone to complete 100 hours Community Payback, pay £40 costs, a £60 Victim Surcharge and £50 compensation to Mr Regulski, who had suffered bruising to his head.
