Three Mansfield men were charged, late on Thursday night, with the murder of John-Paul Johnson in the town on Tuesday.

Christopher Buckland (29), Daniel Bastable (19), and Carl Green (24), all of Chesterfield Road South, will appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning.

Mr Johnson, (42), was found dead at a property in Chesterfield Road South at around 10am on Tuesday. He had been living as a tenant at the three-storey property, owned and run by Mansfield-based housing association Midway Housing.

A Home Office post-mortem examination concluded that Mr Johnson died as a result of chest injuries.

Eight people were initially arrested on suspicion of Mr Johnson’s murder on Tuesday and taken to police stations in Mansfield, Newark and Nottingham.

Two, a 25-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man, were released without charge on Wednesday.

Three more men, aged 25, 39 and 43, were released on bail pending further enquiries.
