A drink driver was travelling at 40mph in a 30-zone and driving in the middle of the road, Mansfield magistrates were told.
John Tooth (54) of Cromford Avenue, Mansfield was in his VW Golf when he was stopped on Forest Road earlier this month.
Police had been tipped off about him being a potential drink driver and followed him. He was breathalysed and found to have 65 mcgs in 100 mls of breath. The legal limit is 35 mcgs.
Admitting the charge, the court was told he had been drinking wine and had no intention of driving, but had an argument with his partner and stormed out of her home.
He was fined £400, and told to pay £125 in costs and banned from driving for 18 months.
