Mansfield GBH case to be heard at crown court

A Mansfield man will appear in court next week following an incident in which a man was slashed with a blade.

Daniel Bickerton, of Westfield Lane has been charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding another man with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The 33-year-old recently appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court and was held on remand.

Because of the serious nature of the charge, the case has now been moved up to crown court for a trial.

Chad recently reported that police had been called to Westfield Lane on the morning of Sunday, September 6 following reports of a large-scale disturbance.

They arrested nine people during the melee.

Seven were arrested on suspicion of affray and later bailed.

Two were arrested on suspicion of causing GBH, including a man and a woman. A woman was bailed pending further inquiries while Bickerton is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, September 22 for a preliminary hearing.
